The Never-ending Pre-production

Updated: Feb 18, 2018

Pre-production feels like it's going on forever. This is the research, preliminary interviews, reading, more reading, outlining, scheduling ... all the organizational stuff that I'm pretty good at, but sometimes feels like it's just delaying production.

But this is important — maybe the most important — part of the film. If I'm making a Frankenstein's Monster, these are its bones. I need to make sure they're strong, with the right bones in all the right places.

I'm beginning to realize, the research never really stops, either. Which is fine with me, actually, because I can't imagine getting tired of talking to all these amazing researchers and reading all their astounding works.
