I also got to interview Judith's husband, co-manager, and collections researcher at the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic, Peter Hewitt. Peter was recently awarded a doctorate in material culture of the early modern period. As an artist (who mostly deals with material objects in culture), this was a brilliant conversation on the collection. He illuminated for me the beliefs surrounding a number of objects in the collectin that relate to spirits, familiars, and piskies. But we also had a long talk about the museum's founder, Cecil Williamson. Cecil really deserves his own feature length documentary: he's a fascinating figure. Judith and Peter are discovering new things about him all the time, and I'm looking forward to digging into Steve Patterson's Cecil Williamson's Book of Witchcraft: A Grimoire of the Museum of Witchcraft.
